Wendy’s journey began in 2019 during her university days, when a young romance blossomed into a serious relationship. Within months, she became pregnant. Her partner had just joined the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) and left for training, leaving her alone and without support from his family.
Seeking comfort, she returned to her parents’ home as her due date approached, only to be met with rejection.

“I was insulted and treated like a failure,” Wendy recalls. Two weeks after giving birth, she and her newborn were allegedly forced out of the house in the pouring rain.
“That was the lowest point of my life. I had nowhere to go and no one to turn to,” she says.
Her husband, aware of her plight, connected her with his mother, who welcomed Wendy with love and dignity. It was in this environment of care that she slowly began rebuilding her life.
