The news was announced on Saturday morning by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, who issued an official notice to MPs and parliamentary staff. He confirmed that Hamisi passed away at around 7:00 am on December 6, 2025.
Wetang’ula described the late MP as a humble and dedicated leader who served the country with commitment. He extended condolences to Hamisi’s family, friends, and all who worked closely with him.
Hamisi joined Parliament in 2022 after being nominated by the Amani National Congress (ANC) under the Kenya Kwanza coalition. In the House, he served on two key committees — the Departmental Committee on Sports and Culture and the Select Committee on National Cohesion and Equal Opportunities. Colleagues praised him for his diligence and professionalism.
Former ANC party leader and current Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi mourned Hamisi as a principled leader whose integrity and loyalty were widely respected.
Mudavadi noted that the MP was known for standing by his beliefs and inspiring others through his calm leadership style.
