Fresh details have emerged in the murder investigation of Reverend Julius Ndumia after detectives reviewing CCTV footage reportedly uncovered the movements of four suspected attackers inside the PCEA Tabuga Church compound in Lanet, Nakuru County.

According to investigators, the suspects were captured on surveillance cameras on the night of May 3, 2026, moments before the deadly attack that left the clergyman dead inside his residence.

Police say the group first targeted the church’s security guard, Bernard Nyamwaka, who was manning the gate at the time.

Detectives revealed that the attackers allegedly overpowered the guard and held him hostage for more than 20 minutes before forcing him to lead them to Reverend Ndumia’s house located within the church compound.

Authorities believe the suspects carefully planned the operation and used deception to gain access to the clergyman’s residence.

Investigators say the attackers forced the injured guard to accompany them to the house while pretending to be police officers conducting a security operation.

Unaware of the danger, Reverend Ndumia reportedly opened the door after hearing the claims from outside.

Once inside, detectives say the suspects immediately turned violent, restraining both the preacher and the security guard before launching a prolonged attack.

A detective familiar with the case stated that the attackers separated the two victims inside the living room as they searched the house for valuables.

During the violent raid, Reverend Ndumia sustained severe injuries, particularly to the back of his head and neck.

The clergyman was later discovered lying in a pool of blood, shocking residents and members of the church community. The brutal killing has since triggered outrage and grief among worshippers, local leaders, and residents in Nakuru.

Meanwhile, the security guard survived the attack after receiving emergency treatment at Nakuru Teaching and Referral Hospital. Police later placed him under protection as investigations intensified.

Detectives have confirmed the arrest of two suspects identified as Beryl Nafula Otenyo and Felix Odinga Okumu.

The suspects are currently being held for 21 days after investigators requested more time to complete forensic examinations and gather additional evidence linked to the murder.

Police disclosed in court that DNA analysis is being conducted on several recovered items believed to be connected to the attack.

Authorities also recovered Reverend Ndumia’s mobile phone and SIM cards from the suspects, with investigators now examining possible financial transactions conducted after the incident.

Police say two additional suspects are still on the run, and efforts to trace them are ongoing. Investigators have not yet established the exact motive behind the killing, but several leads are currently being pursued as the high-profile case continues to unfold.
