The Wiper Patriotic Front (WPF) has stepped forward to defend its leader, Kalonzo Musyoka, following repeated criticisms from President William Ruto.

The latest clash comes after Ruto dismissed Kalonzo’s comments on the government’s ambitious development plans, calling him a pessimist and claiming he lacks the authority to question the president’s agenda.

In a statement on Friday, the party said Ruto’s attacks reflect a leader who feels politically cornered.

The Wiper Party argued that the president is using Kalonzo as a target to distract Kenyans from critiquing his administration.

“Ruto knows what every Kenyan knows: his time is up. In desperation, he has unleashed propaganda to harm Kalonzo Musyoka’s reputation, but he cannot break the people’s trust or Kalonzo’s integrity,” the statement read.

The party accused Ruto of trying to capture opposition strongholds ahead of the 2027 elections by launching personal attacks on opposition leaders rather than focusing on running the country.

Wiper also highlighted that some of the projects Ruto claims credit for were initiated by Kalonzo. A key example is the Kibwezi-Mutomo-Kitui-Bondoni road, first launched by Kalonzo in 2011 while serving as Vice President.

According to the party, the Jubilee administration deliberately stalled the project in 2013, labeling it “not economically viable,” an act they describe as sabotage. The road was only relaunched in December 2016, long before Ruto became president.

The Wiper Party criticized Ruto for what they termed mismanagement and privatization of critical national resources.

They mentioned key institutions such as Kenya Pipeline, Safaricom, and JKIA, claiming that public assets are being transferred to private and foreign interests without proper public oversight.

The party labeled Ruto “a dictator in democratic clothing,” asserting that his leadership has harmed essential sectors like education, healthcare, and infrastructure.

Despite the ongoing attacks, Wiper insists that Kalonzo’s integrity has stood the test of time. They emphasize that his dedication to public service over decades has earned him the trust of Kenyans, and no amount of political mudslinging will tarnish his reputation.

“Ruto’s regime has been a three-year disaster, and it will end in 2027. Wiper, alongside partners in the United Opposition, will help restore Kenya’s promise and guide the country toward accountable leadership,” the statement added.

Meanwhile, President Ruto has unveiled a Ksh.5 trillion “Road to Singapore” development initiative, aimed at transforming Kenya into a first-world country within a decade.

Kalonzo and Wiper have criticized the plan as unrealistic and constitutionally questionable, calling for more practical and inclusive development strategies.
