Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has denied claims that he has any hostility toward the Somali community.
Speaking publicly, Gachagua emphasized that he considers himself a friend and ally of the Somali community, explaining that his relationship with them is deeply rooted in shared history and culture.
“Mimi ni rafiki wa ukweli wa jamii ya Wasomali,” Gachagua said.
Mount Kenya and the Somali community are closely connected.
“Sisi ni kama chanda na pete,” he explained, highlighting the unity and mutual respect between the groups.
The former deputy president’s remarks come after rumors suggesting tension between him and the Somali community.
Analysts say Gachagua’s clarification seeks to maintain strong political and social ties with all communities in Northern Kenya.
Gachagua concluded by reaffirming his commitment to building bridges and promoting cohesion among Kenya’s diverse communities, stressing that collaboration and understanding are key to national unity.
