As reported by one of the media houses, several Kenyans reportedly died in Nakuru during a crusade led by popular pastor David Owuor.
The pastor, known for his healing sessions, was holding a gathering where sick people came seeking cures. Sadly, some attendees did not survive the process, and their bodies were reportedly hidden from the public eye.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), church leaders did not file any official reports about the deaths. The DCI only learned about the situation after one of the church followers reported it.
A spokesperson from the DCI said, “We had no official notice from the church leadership about any deaths. It was only after a concerned follower came forward that we began investigations.”
In a statement, the follower, who asked to remain anonymous, told the DCI that the church leaders under Pastor Owuor wanted to keep the deaths secret.
He said, “They did not want the public to know that some people who came for healing died during the crusade. It was all hidden from everyone outside the church.”
The follower further revealed that even the morgue staff were allegedly instructed not to announce or reveal that any deceased persons were followers of Pastor Owuor.
“We were told not to inform anyone that the bodies inside the morgue were from Owuor’s crusade. Everything had to remain quiet,” he added.
The DCI has now confirmed that they are investigating the matter to find out the full details of what happened during the Nakuru crusade.
Authorities are warning that anyone responsible for hiding the deaths or covering up the incidents will face legal action.
