President Donald Trump of the United States has disclosed plans to carry out additional air raids on Nigeria should militants not halt their attacks targeting Christians.

Trump has said that the earlier attacks targeting the said militants, which were carried out in Sokoto State, might soon be followed by more if the terrorists continue their activities.

According to Trump, his government is actually considering carrying out regular attacks on the targets, even though it is his wish that the encounter comes to an end.

“I would prefer it to be a one-off attack. But if the killings against Christians continue, then they will become regular attacks," he said in an interview with The New York Times.

America's first attack was carried out on Christmas night, few weeks after Trump warned that he might be forced to intervene after what seemed like the Nigerian government's inability to protect a section of its population.

Nigerian authorities have held that the operation was carried out in partnership with Nigeria and had the full consent of President Bola Tinubu.

At the same time, the government has been seen strengthening it's relations with the United Stats, especially on matters security, in recent days.

This comes at a time when Trump seems to be getting too involved in matters outside America, given his recent success in forcing a regime change in Venezuela.

The operation included bombing of key areas within the country and the subsequent arrest of President Nicolas Maduro, who was then airlifted to America for legal processing.
