Sifuna Put on the Spot as Ksh10 Million Bribe Claims Rock Senate

Pressure is mounting on Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna following fresh claims linked to the impeachment of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

The latest remarks were made by advocate Wahome Thuku, who questioned Sifuna’s role in the impeachment process and challenged him to publicly address allegations of financial inducements.

In a Facebook post, Thuku noted that Sifuna spent nearly 15 minutes addressing the Senate while strongly supporting the impeachment motion against Gachagua.

According to Thuku, this lengthy presentation has now returned to haunt the ODM Secretary General.

The controversy escalated after Gachagua claimed that senators were allegedly paid Ksh10 million each by President William Ruto to support his removal.

The former Deputy President did not provide evidence but insisted the payments influenced the outcome.

Thuku argued that Sifuna, who has often projected himself as a champion of integrity and accountability, should clearly state whether he personally received any such funds.

He emphasized that Kenya has entered what he described as a “new era of honesty,” where public officials must openly account for their actions and decisions, especially on matters of national importance.

According to the advocate, silence from leaders who claim moral superiority only fuels public suspicion and weakens trust in democratic institutions.

The claims have sparked debate online, with Kenyans divided over whether senators should be compelled to disclose any benefits linked to impeachment votes.

Supporters of Sifuna insist that his stance was based on principle and constitutional duty, not financial gain.

However, critics argue that the seriousness of Gachagua’s allegations requires clear responses from all lawmakers who supported the motion.

As the political dust settles, attention remains firmly fixed on Sifuna, whose response could either reinforce his clean-image reputation or raise further questions about the integrity of Kenya’s impeachment processes.
