Grace never imagined that the man she married would one day become her greatest source of fear.
After 13 years of marriage, she says she finally walked away to save her life and protect her children from cycles of violence, humiliation, and economic sabotage that had become part of her daily reality.
According to Grace, the trouble began when her husband became increasingly possessive and paranoid. What started as arguments over phone calls soon escalated into public humiliation and brutal physical attacks.
In one incident that still haunts her, Grace says her husband accused her of speaking to another man. When he dialed the number and it did not go through, he flew into a rage — unaware that the contact belonged to her cousin.
“He called the number, it didn’t go through, and that’s when everything started,” she recalls.
“I had just come from the shower and only had a towel on. He pushed me outside, the towel fell inside the house and he locked the door. I was naked outside, crying and begging him to let me in.”
Residents who witnessed the incident gathered in shock as Grace stood helplessly outside. A village elder later intervened, forced the door open, and confirmed that the man in question was indeed her cousin.
Enraged by the humiliation inflicted on Grace, neighbors reportedly confronted her husband and compelled him to pay for her medical treatment. He later moved out of the estate in shame.
“He Wanted Me to Lose My Jobs”
Grace says the abuse did not stop at physical violence. She claims her husband systematically sabotaged her efforts to earn a living. Whenever she secured employment, he would follow her to her workplace, cause scenes, and spread false accusations to her employers.
The third job — which finally gave her financial stability after months of struggle — was also destroyed, she says, when her husband stormed into the company offices and accused her of stealing.
“That job was changing our lives,” Grace says. “He ruined it in less than three months.”
Left without income and increasingly fearful for her safety, Grace says she began to realize that staying in the marriage could cost her life.
“I asked him why he hated me so much,” she recalls. “He never answered.”
How Dr. Bokko Helped Her Find Strength to Leave
At her lowest point, Grace says she felt emotionally broken and spiritually drained. A friend introduced her to Dr. Bokko, a well-known spiritual healer she had heard about online. Though skeptical at first, Grace says the encouragement and spiritual guidance she received helped her regain confidence and clarity.
“I felt like my life was cursed,” she says. “I had lost jobs, my marriage was violent, and I felt trapped. After speaking to Dr. Bokko and following the spiritual guidance he gave me, I started seeing my situation clearly. I found the courage to leave.”
Grace insists that the biggest change was within her. “He helped me break the fear,” she says. “I stopped blaming myself. I realized I deserved to live.”
Six months later, Grace walked out of the abusive marriage with her children and began rebuilding her life from scratch. Today, she says she is stronger, more focused, and determined never to return to a life of violence.
“I left to save my life,” she says. “God gave me grace.”
