In a notice released on Monday, March 16, the agency confirmed that the recruitment drive will run for six days, ending on Saturday, March 21.
The exercise is taking place across all sub-counties in the country, giving eligible youth a chance to join the national service programme.
The announcement comes as the government continues to expand initiatives aimed at empowering young people through skills development, discipline, and national service programmes.

Officials urged qualified candidates to attend the exercise in large numbers and take advantage of the opportunity.
“The National Youth Service nationwide recruitment exercise has officially kicked off today across all sub-counties as earlier advertised. The exercise will run from March 16 to March 21,” the statement read.
The service encouraged young Kenyans to participate in the programme, highlighting that recruits would benefit from training that prepares them for both employment and national development roles.
NYS is a state corporation responsible for training youth through paramilitary-style programmes while also equipping them with vocational and technical skills.
Through its training programmes, recruits gain practical knowledge in several fields including construction, agriculture, mechanical engineering, electrical work, and community development.
The agency also deploys trained youth to participate in national development initiatives such as infrastructure projects, environmental conservation programmes, disaster response operations, and public service activities.
Earlier this month, the agency announced that more than 700 vacancies were available for recruitment across different roles.
In a previous notice issued on March 3, the service confirmed that 250 positions were open for cadet officers while an additional 500 slots were available for private officers.
The advertised positions cover a wide range of technical and support roles. These include drivers, plant operators, electricians, carpenters, plumbers, band members, agricultural workers, secretaries, vehicle mechanics, welders, and general duty officers.
Interested applicants were advised to download and fill out the official employment application form available on the website of the Public Service Commission.
Completed applications can either be sent through email or delivered by post to the NYS Commandant General at the service headquarters in Nairobi.
The deadline for submission of applications has been set for March 18, 2026.
The recruitment drive is expected to attract thousands of young people across the country as many continue to seek opportunities for training, employment, and participation in national development programmes.
