Homa Bay Town Member of Parliament Peter Kaluma has claimed that President William Ruto and his UDA party will benefit greatly from the zoning proposal.
The lawmaker has been among ODM leaders pushing for an arrangement where UDA doesn't field candidates in areas considered ODM bastions.
While alleging that the Head of State has finally agreed to this proposal, he claims that it saves the president the misfortunes that were coming his way.
According to Kaluma, Ruto's re-election bid would have been in limbo had he not given in, because they as ODM leaders would have chosen to focus their efforts on battling UDA rivals eyeing their positions rather than campaigning for the Head of State.
In a statement on Facebook, he also says the deal will help Ruto avoid the embarrassment of UDA candidates being humiliated by ODM aspirants.
"President Ruto is a political genius. By accepting zoning, he has secured the focus we need to campaign for him and locked the votes for his re-election and saved the shortsighted UDA political rejects idling in our strongholds from thrashing."
He says that this arrangement now eradicates sibling rivalry and provides space to secure as many seats as possible to support Ruto's second administration.
"As coalition partners, we have no room and no time for sibling rivalry - we must focus on winning the presidency and enough seats to govern," he claims.
The MP had earlier warned that they would come up with their own presidential candidate if UDA insisted on fielding candidates in ODM areas, like Luo Nyanza and Coast.
