The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has revealed that Sh600,000 was transferred from Reverend Julius Ndumia Ngari’s bank account as detectives continue investigating the shocking murder of the Nakuru-based clergyman.

In a statement released on Tuesday, investigators linked the killing to a suspected criminal gang believed to have operated in Nakuru and surrounding areas for several years.

According to detectives, Reverend Ndumia was attacked and killed on the night of May 3, 2026, at the PCEA Tabuga Church compound located in Nakuru North Sub County.

The brutal incident has continued to attract national attention as investigators uncover new details surrounding the murder.

The DCI stated that the suspects connected to the case are believed to be members of a gang first identified by detectives in July 2022.

Authorities claim the group is notorious for carrying out violent robberies while disguising themselves in uniforms resembling those worn by police officers and other security personnel.

Investigators further disclosed that the gang had previously been linked to armed robberies involving firearms.

Police reportedly recovered one such weapon during a security operation conducted in 2024 as part of earlier investigations targeting the same criminal network.

Detectives now suspect the group may have expanded its operations across Nakuru County, with several violent robberies and attacks in recent months believed to be connected to the gang.

According to the DCI, investigators uncovered evidence showing that Sh600,000 was transferred from a victim’s bank account during another violent robbery that occurred on May 1, 2026.

The money was allegedly moved to mobile phone numbers suspected to belong to members of the criminal group.

Authorities believe the financial transactions could provide critical evidence linking the suspects to multiple crimes, including the murder of Reverend Ndumia.

Detectives are currently examining mobile money records, bank transactions, and communication data as part of the ongoing investigations.

Forensic experts have also intensified scientific examinations aimed at placing the suspects at the scene of the murder.

Investigators say DNA analysis and digital forensic investigations are expected to play a major role in strengthening the prosecution’s case once charges are formally filed in court.

The murder of Reverend Ndumia shocked worshippers, residents, and religious leaders across the country, with many calling for swift justice and tougher action against violent criminal gangs operating in urban areas.

The DCI has assured the public that investigations remain active and that detectives are pursuing all leads connected to the case.

Authorities also urged residents to remain calm, avoid spreading unverified information online, and cooperate with investigators by reporting any information that may assist in identifying additional suspects.

Police say more updates will be released as investigations continue and new findings emerge in the high-profile murder case.
