A fresh political controversy is unfolding in Nyandarua County following claims linking a former aide to an impeached Deputy President to underground political mobilisation activities tied to emerging party networks.

Samuel Ngotho, who previously served as an adviser to the impeached Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, has now found himself at the center of heated political discussion after allegations surfaced about his alleged involvement in coordinating local political structures.

According to the claims, Ngotho was among officials who lost their positions following the impeachment fallout involving his former boss.

He is now accused of playing a role in coordinating activities linked to a local political outfit referred to in reports as the “Maskio” network in Nyandarua.

Nyandarua Woman Representative Gathoni Wamuchomba was quoted making remarks suggesting that Ngotho had been actively involved in managing grassroots mobilisation efforts within the county.

She stated:

“Samuel Ngotho was working as an adviser to the impeached DP. He was fired together with his boss. He has been in charge of the Maskio party in Nyandarua and an insider of Wamunyoros.”

The remarks have since triggered political debate across the region, with supporters and critics interpreting the allegations as evidence of shifting alliances and behind-the-scenes political restructuring ahead of future elections.

Political observers say the situation reflects growing competition among emerging grassroots political networks in Nyandarua, where local influence structures are becoming increasingly important in shaping county-level leadership dynamics.

However, no official response has been issued by the individuals or groups mentioned in the allegations, and the claims remain politically sensitive and unverified by independent investigative authorities.

Analysts also note that the involvement of former senior political aides in local mobilisation networks is not unusual in Kenyan politics, especially as leaders reposition themselves following major political realignments or fallout from national leadership disputes.

Sources familiar with Nyandarua politics suggest that the allegations have intensified scrutiny of informal political networks operating at the grassroots level, particularly those believed to be preparing for upcoming electoral contests.

For now, attention remains focused on whether the individuals named in the claims will publicly address the allegations and clarify their current political roles.

The developments are expected to continue fueling debate as political temperatures rise in the region ahead of future election cycles.
