Photos of two suspects linked to the killing of Julius Ndumia Ngari have surfaced after they were arraigned at the Nakuru Law Courts in connection with the brutal murder that has shocked residents of Bahati Constituency.

The suspects, identified as Beryl Nafula Otenyo and Felix Odinga Okumu, appeared before the court over the death of the Presbyterian Church of East Africa Tabuga Parish cleric, who was found dead inside the church compound on May 4 in Bahati Constituency.

Investigators told the court that the duo was allegedly found in possession of the slain pastor’s mobile phone and SIM cards shortly after the incident, raising suspicion about their direct involvement in the crime.

According to officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, the recovered mobile device and SIM cards have been sent to a forensic laboratory in Nairobi for detailed analysis.

The forensic examination is expected to help trace mobile money activity, including suspected M-Pesa transactions that may have been carried out after the pastor’s death, potentially providing key leads in the investigation.

Prosecutors requested the court to allow the suspects to be detained for 30 days to give detectives more time to complete investigations and analyze digital evidence.

However, the court ruled that the suspects would be held for 21 days at Menengai Police Station, balancing investigative needs with their constitutional rights.

The court further directed that the suspects be returned for mention of the case on June 3, as investigations continue.

The murder of Rev Ndumia has sparked widespread outrage among residents and church members, with many calling for swift justice and transparency in the handling of the case.

Police have maintained that investigations are ongoing and have not ruled out the possibility of additional arrests as they continue piecing together evidence surrounding the killing.

The case remains one of the most closely followed criminal investigations in the region due to the brutality of the attack and the involvement of digital forensic evidence in tracking suspects.
