Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa has dismissed allegations that he shot and killed Brian Olunga during the 2022 General Election, describing the claims as rumors and insisting that he does not know what happened.

Speaking during a podcast hosted by media personality Obinna, the lawmaker said he has no knowledge of the circumstances that led to Olunga's death and maintained that he would also like to know the truth behind the incident.

"Allegations that I shot Brian Olunga dead in 2022 were rumors. I have no idea what transpired. I'd also want to know what happened," Barasa said during the interview.

The death of Brian Olunga, an aide to Barasa's political rival during the 2022 elections, became one of the country's most high-profile political cases after the fatal shooting in Bungoma County. The incident sparked widespread public attention and prompted investigations by security agencies.

Barasa's latest remarks come as he revisited the controversial case during the podcast, reiterating his position that he was not responsible for Olunga's death. He maintained that he has consistently sought to establish what transpired on the day of the incident.

The MP's comments have reignited public discussion over a case that dominated national headlines and remains one of the most talked-about episodes in Kenya's recent political history.
