Rigathi Gachagua has a habit of turning his private moments into public entertainment, and his latest confession proved no different.
What began as a favour for a friend ended up costing him some peace at home, and the former Deputy President was in no rush to hide it.
Gachagua recently narrated how his wife, Pastor Dorcas, confronted him after he was pictured dancing with nominated senator Karen Nyamu during a traditional dowry ceremony in Murang'a County.
The event took place in November 2023 in Kigumo, where Gachagua had stood in as a father figure for Mathira MP Eric Wamumbi during his ruracio to Murang'a woman representative Betty Maina.
He explained that he and Nyamu had both worn matching brown outfits inspired by Kikuyu culture, and that the dancing stretched deep into the night.
According to Gachagua, he did not leave the celebrations until around four in the morning, by which time images from the event were already spreading online.
Speaking on the aftermath, Gachagua said Pastor Dorcas had already seen the photographs of him dancing alongside Nyamu and other women by the time he got home.
He admitted that his wife was far from pleased, pointing to both the late hour and the identity of his dance partner as the source of the tension.
Gachagua went on to jokingly blame Wamumbi for keeping him on the dance floor for so long, insisting the groom was responsible for the trouble he later faced at home.
He delivered the account with the same self-deprecating humour that has defined many of his public appearances since leaving office, drawing laughter rather than controversy from those following the story.
The former DP's willingness to poke fun at his own missteps has continued to endear him to many Kenyans, who see the moment as a lighthearted glimpse into his family life away from politics.
