Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Deputy Party Leader and Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi has revealed deepening divisions within the party, alleging that key leaders avoided a crucial reconciliation meeting ahead of a Central Management Committee (CMC) gathering in Kilifi.

In an interview with a local television station on Monday, January 19, 2026, Osotsi accused the party’s new leader, Oburu Oginga, and Junet Mohamed of deliberately skipping a planned meeting intended to address internal disagreements.

The session had been arranged in line with advice from Mama Ida Odinga to resolve ongoing differences between the two officials, who have reportedly been at loggerheads for months.

“I am aware there was supposed to be a meeting on the eve of the CMC meeting before the Kilifi gathering.

The meeting was meant to iron out issues and differences as part of Mama Ida’s advice,” Osotsi said.

“Sifuna appeared for the meeting, but the other two leaders did not show up—only to turn out for the CMC meeting in Kilifi with some declarations.”

According to Osotsi, Secretary General Edwin Sifuna attended the meeting alone, highlighting a lack of commitment from other senior leaders to the party’s unity efforts.

The Deputy Party Leader’s comments underscore growing tensions within ODM, which have been playing out publicly in recent weeks as factions within the party continue to clash over leadership, strategy, and future direction.

The revelations come amid heightened speculation about ODM’s internal cohesion, particularly as the party prepares for upcoming political engagements and national campaigns.

Osotsi’s statements have reignited discussions on the role of senior party officials in promoting unity and adherence to party protocols.

His remarks suggest that without consistent cooperation from all top leaders, ODM may face challenges in presenting a unified front ahead of critical political contests.

The Kilifi CMC meeting, which followed the skipped session, saw Oburu and Junet attend, but observers note that declarations made during the gathering appeared to bypass previous unity efforts.
