A new wave of political drama has set social media ablaze after Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja dropped a bombshell claim that has left Kenyans stunned, amused and sharply divided.

Speaking at a charged political gathering, Sakaja alleged that former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has been visiting him in dreams, offering guidance and insight on the country’s political direction a revelation that instantly went viral.

The statement triggered an immediate and fiery response from Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, who wasted no time in pouring cold water on the claim.

In a scathing rebuttal, Owino questioned Sakaja’s political weight, bluntly asking why Raila Odinga, one of Kenya’s most influential political figures, would choose to communicate with him through dreams.

“Who exactly are you for Raila to appear to you at night?” Owino fired, suggesting the remarks were less about leadership and more about chasing headlines.

His reaction lit up social media platforms, with memes, debates and hot takes flooding timelines within minutes.

Political observers say the clash reflects a growing trend where leaders increasingly lean on emotional, symbolic, and even spiritual narratives to connect with voters.

Critics argue this approach risks sidelining urgent national issues such as the cost of living, unemployment and insecurity.

The controversy has also exposed simmering tensions within opposition ranks.

While Sakaja’s allies insist personal spiritual experiences should not be ridiculed, skeptics warn that mixing dreams with governance could undermine public confidence.
