"What Kind Of Fire Can You Be?" Gachagua Slams Kindiki Over Publicity Stunts While Death Hits Wajir

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has attacked Kithure Kindiki over what he called fake politics and misplaced priorities.

Gachagua accused Kindiki of moving around the Mt Kenya region carrying beans, rice, and money while pretending to be strong and powerful, yet people are dying in other parts of the country.

Speaking during a public event, Gachagua said Kindiki has been going round Mt Kenya telling people that he is “fire”.

Gachagua laughed off the claim and questioned what kind of fire Kindiki is talking about. According to him, real fire should be seen in action, not in words and handouts.

Gachagua said it is wrong for the Interior CS to focus on politics and public relations while serious security problems are happening in places like Garissa and Wajir.

He reminded Kenyans that these areas are facing deadly attacks, insecurity, and loss of lives.

He said families are crying, people are living in fear, and others have been forced to leave their homes.

He accused Kindiki of failing to do his main job, which is protecting lives and property.

Gachagua said instead of sitting in security meetings and fixing the problems, Kindiki is busy doing political tours and giving out food and money to impress people.

According to Gachagua, carrying beans and rice does not make someone a leader.

He said leadership is about responsibility, action, and results. He added that no amount of handouts can cover up failure in handling insecurity.

Gachagua also warned Mt Kenya residents not to be fooled by cheap politics.

He said leaders should not use hunger and poverty to buy support. He urged people to ask hard questions and demand real leadership, not drama and noise.

He said it is painful that while Kindiki is laughing and calling himself fire, innocent Kenyans are being buried in other regions. Gachagua described this as shameful and insensitive.

The remarks come at a time when political tension is rising, especially as leaders position themselves ahead of the 2027 elections.

Gachagua made it clear that he will continue calling out leaders he believes are failing the country.

Gachagua said Kenya needs leaders who take their work seriously. He said security is not a joke and should never be mixed with politics.

According to him, true fire is saving lives, not carrying bags of beans and rice around for cameras.
