Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna today vowed to remain steadfast with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), declaring that neither threats nor political maneuvers will sway his loyalty.

Addressing a crowd at the ACK Church in Kitengela, Sifuna began by thanking Kenyans who have stood with him as “Team Sifuna.”

“Even if I am killed today, I know that over 15 million Kenyans will be left to continue the fight for Kenya,” he said, drawing loud applause from supporters.

His remarks come shortly after ODM removed him from the Secretary General position, citing claims that he had acted against party directives by allegedly aligning with President William Ruto’s broad-based government initiative. Sifuna dismissed the allegations, emphasizing that he will not support the Ruto administration.

The senator was accompanied by top party leaders, including Siaya Governor James Orengo and Nairobi West MP Babu Owino, who reaffirmed their support for him and called for party unity ahead of the 2027 elections.

The event also drew a large crowd of party supporters, many waving ODM colors and chanting slogans in solidarity with Sifuna.

Political analysts say Sifuna’s speech is a clear signal of defiance and determination to protect party principles, even in the face of internal disciplinary measures.

His reference to 15 million Kenyans highlights the depth of his grassroots support and the influence he wields within the party.

As ODM navigates debates over alliances and internal cohesion, Sifuna’s stand underscores the ongoing tensions between senior leaders and the central party machinery.

Observers suggest his public commitment could shape the party’s strategy in the coming months, particularly on issues relating to loyalty, governance, and the proposed broad-based government.

Sifuna’s bold declarations at Kitengela reflect both a personal and political resolve to ensure that ODM remains true to its principles, signaling a period of heightened political activity as Kenya approaches the next general elections.
