Gachagua has shared a heartfelt message after visiting Machakos Senator Agnes Kavindu at her home in Mua Hills. The visit followed the sudden death of her son, Moses Nduya Muthama.
The young man collapsed at home after experiencing breathing problems and was rushed to hospital. He passed away on the evening of February 4, 2026.
Moses was the only child of Senator Kavindu and former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama. His death has brought deep pain to the family.
They had also lost another child in recent years. Friends described Moses as humble and respectful.
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua said he prayed for the family to find strength during this difficult time.
He noted that no words can truly comfort a parent who has lost a child. He sent his sympathies to the people of Machakos County. He also prayed for eternal rest for Moses.
Gachagua was accompanied by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka. The two leaders stood with the family and offered words of hope.
Their presence drew attention because of recent political tensions in the country. Photos showed them sharing light moments with other leaders at the residence.
Among those present was Dr Oburu Odinga of ODM. Several Members of Parliament and Senators also attended.
The leaders came from different political sides. Their gathering sent a message of unity during a moment of grief.
Observers noted that Gachagua and Oburu held private talks during the visit. This sparked fresh debate about possible political realignments.
Gachagua now leads the Democratic Coalition Party after his impeachment. His meeting with leaders linked to the broad based government raised interest.
The visit came at a time of tension within ODM. Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna was recently removed as Secretary General by the party’s National Executive Committee.
He rejected the decision and moved to court. The Political Parties Disputes Tribunal temporarily halted the move.
Even with political differences, leaders in Machakos chose to stand together in sorrow. The condolence visit showed that moments of loss can bring rivals together.
In the midst of political change, the focus remained on comforting a grieving mother and honoring the life of her son.
