A new controversy has emerged surrounding the murder investigation of Julius Ndumia Ngari after former Kimani Ngunjiri claimed that the suspects arrested in connection with the killing may not have been involved in the crime.
Speaking to the press, the former lawmaker expressed concern over the progress of investigations into the murder of the Presbyterian Church of East Africa pastor, arguing that important questions surrounding the case remain unanswered.
Ngunjiri stated that while he was not taking sides in the matter, he believed the investigation process had moved too slowly and lacked sufficient public clarity.
He particularly challenged the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to release CCTV footage from the church compound, saying the recordings could help establish the truth and determine who was actually responsible for the killing.
According to the former MP, making the footage public would help address growing doubts and speculation surrounding the arrests.
The comments have triggered fresh debate among members of the public, with many Kenyans now demanding greater transparency from investigators handling the high-profile case.
Reverend Ndumia’s killing has continued to attract widespread national attention due to the violent nature of the attack and the circumstances under which the suspects were apprehended.
Investigators had earlier linked several suspects to the robbery and murder after tracing money allegedly withdrawn from the pastor’s M-Pesa account following the attack.
However, Ngunjiri’s remarks have now cast fresh scrutiny on whether the individuals in custody were directly involved in the killing or merely connected to financial transactions linked to the stolen funds.
Political and religious leaders in Nakuru have continued calling for a credible and transparent investigation that can provide justice for the slain cleric and restore public confidence in the investigative process.
The case has also reignited wider concerns over violent crime targeting religious leaders and the need for stronger security systems in churches and residential compounds.
As pressure mounts, many residents are now waiting to see whether detectives will release additional evidence, including CCTV footage, forensic findings, or further arrest details that could clarify the circumstances surrounding the murder.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue gathering evidence and interrogating suspects connected to the case.
