Fresh details have emerged regarding the final moments of slain Julius Ndumia Ngari, the pastor attached to the Presbyterian Church of East Africa Tabuga Parish, after investigators uncovered how suspected criminals allegedly accessed and withdrew money from his M-Pesa account during a violent robbery attack.

According to reports by investigators, the attack occurred in the early hours of Sunday, May 3, when a group of four armed thugs reportedly raided the pastor’s residence.

Detectives believe the attackers first overpowered the church watchman, Bernard Nyamwaka, before allegedly forcing him to help lure the pastor out of his house.

The suspects are said to have pretended to be police officers in order to convince the cleric to open the door without raising alarm.

Once inside the residence, the gang allegedly tied up Pastor Ndumia and subjected him to severe torture while demanding access to his financial accounts and mobile money details.

Investigators say the suspects managed to gain access to the pastor’s M-Pesa account and transferred approximately KSh 60,000 before fleeing the scene.

The attackers reportedly left the cleric seriously injured and fighting for his life after the brutal assault.

Authorities from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations later traced suspicious transactions connected to the stolen money. Detectives established that the funds were withdrawn from several M-Pesa outlets within Nakuru days after the attack.

The investigation eventually led officers to a group of suspects believed to be linked to a notorious criminal gang operating within the region.

Police say the suspects were tracked down and arrested from different hideouts following an intelligence-led operation.

The killing of the pastor has sparked outrage among residents and members of the church community, with many calling for swift justice and stronger security measures for religious leaders and institutions.

Investigators are continuing with forensic examinations and interrogations as they seek to establish the full sequence of events surrounding the robbery and murder.

The incident has also renewed public concern over rising cases of violent crime targeting homes, religious institutions, and mobile money users across different parts of the country.
