New details have emerged regarding the final moments of Dr Job Obwaka, with his family clarifying that the veteran medic did not die inside a hospital as many had initially believed.

According to relatives, Dr Obwaka died while being rushed to hospital in an ambulance after suffering a medical emergency linked to a heart condition.

The revelation was shared publicly by social media influencer Murugi Munyi, who described the late doctor as her uncle and used the incident to urge motorists to give ambulances priority on Kenyan roads.

Dr Obwaka, who served as a board director at The Nairobi Hospital, reportedly suffered cardiac arrest while being transported to the facility for emergency treatment.

A postmortem examination conducted at Lee Funeral Home later confirmed that the doctor died from complications related to an underlying heart condition.

The family stated that additional medical examinations would still be carried out as part of the broader review into the circumstances surrounding his sudden death.

Speaking online, Murugi Munyi expressed frustration over the failure by some motorists to create room for ambulances in traffic, saying delays on the road may have contributed to the tragic outcome.

She observed that many drivers often ignore emergency vehicles because they assume ambulances are either empty or simply trying to bypass traffic congestion.

According to her, such assumptions can have fatal consequences because ambulances frequently carry critically ill patients whose survival depends on rapid medical response.

Murugi urged motorists to act with empathy and urgency whenever emergency vehicles approach, reminding Kenyans that anyone could someday depend on an ambulance to save their own life or that of a loved one.

Her remarks triggered widespread reactions online, with many Kenyans sharing personal experiences involving delayed ambulances and poor road courtesy during emergencies.

Several social media users also called for stricter enforcement of traffic laws to ensure emergency vehicles are consistently given priority passage.

The death of Dr Obwaka has since reignited public debate over emergency response systems, traffic discipline, and public awareness regarding ambulance access in Kenya.

Friends, colleagues, and community members have continued mourning the veteran doctor, describing him as a respected medical professional whose sudden passing has left many shocked.
