Former education and political figure Wilson Sossion has weighed in on the Emurua Dikirr by-election, expressing confidence that voters will elect a candidate from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

Speaking ahead of the polls in Emurua Dikirr, Sossion strongly condemned what he termed as the spread of false and misleading information surrounding the death of the late Johanna Ng’eno, describing such claims as immoral, unacceptable, and harmful to public discourse.

He clarified that it is widely known the former legislator died in a plane crash, urging political actors and members of the public to respect factual accounts and avoid spreading confusion during the sensitive electoral period.

Sossion made the remarks as political activity intensified ahead of the by-election, which has attracted national attention due to its perceived implications for regional and national politics.

He stated that, based on what he described as the prevailing political mood on the ground, the electorate was likely to back the ruling party’s candidate, suggesting that the UDA enjoys strong support in the constituency.

The former KNUT secretary general argued that the current political environment strongly favors the ruling party, positioning the by-election as a continuation of broader national political trends.

The contest in Emurua Dikirr has drawn multiple political actors seeking to influence voter perception, with parties actively mobilizing supporters and making final appeals before voting day.

Political analysts say the by-election could serve as a key indicator of shifting loyalties in the Rift Valley region, especially as leaders test their influence ahead of future national contests.

Sossion also used the opportunity to call for integrity in political communication, warning against misinformation that could inflame tensions or distort the electoral process.

As residents prepare to cast their ballots, attention remains focused on whether the ruling party will maintain its stronghold or whether opposition-backed candidates will stage an upset.

The outcome is expected to shape political messaging and alliances in the region, with parties closely watching voter turnout and final results as a gauge of public sentiment.
