The incident, which occurred in the Cieko area of Sunton, has left residents in fear and anger as police continue searching for a couple believed to have fled shortly after the killing.
According to investigators, the deceased woman had been employed as a domestic worker by the couple.
Preliminary reports indicate that tensions reportedly escalated after the wife allegedly discovered that her husband was involved in a secret relationship with the househelp.
Police sources say the confrontation turned deadly on the night of Tuesday, May 12, when the victim was allegedly attacked inside the family home by the woman identified as Julian Mwangi.
A senior detective attached to Sunton Police Station confirmed that investigations are ongoing, adding that the suspects disappeared immediately after the incident, abandoning their five-year-old child in the house.
Authorities believe the child may have witnessed part of the violent attack and is currently under police protection as investigations continue.
Neighbours told investigators they heard screams and loud commotion coming from the house for several hours during the night but initially did not understand what was happening.
One resident said the body of the victim was only discovered the following morning, sending shockwaves across the neighbourhood.
Residents further claimed the victim appeared to have suffered multiple stab wounds and signs of prolonged physical assault. Some neighbours also alleged that the husband was present during the incident but failed to intervene.
The murder has revived disturbing accusations from locals who claim the main suspect has previously been linked to violent incidents within the community.
According to residents, a former househelp was allegedly thrown from the second floor of the same residence after demanding unpaid wages, while another man was reportedly stabbed during a domestic dispute last year.
Police have not officially confirmed those earlier allegations but stated that all relevant claims will form part of the broader investigation.
The incident has sparked outrage among residents and human rights activists, who are demanding swift arrests and justice for the slain woman.
As detectives intensify the manhunt for the couple, the case has once again highlighted growing concerns over domestic worker abuse, gender-based violence, and rising cases of violent crime within Nairobi estates.
