Residents of Juja, Kiambu County, woke up to a shocking tragedy after a woman was brutally stabbed to death by her husband in what police believe was a domestic dispute.
The incident happened early Sunday morning, September 7, 2025, at the Vatican Apartments in Juja Town.
According to police, the suspect, who works as a school principal, attacked his wife, identified as Rosemary, during a heated argument inside their home.
Sources revealed that Rosemary had returned home in the early hours and headed straight to the bedroom, where her husband was sleeping.
The two allegedly exchanged harsh words before the quarrel escalated into violence. Their fight quickly moved into the kitchen, where events turned fatal.
A house help who was present at the time told detectives that the man grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed his wife several times on the chest, stomach, and thighs.
She collapsed on the floor and died instantly. When the house help tried to step in, she was injured in the hand during the struggle.
After the attack, the suspect turned the knife on himself, stabbing his chest and stomach before jumping from the apartment’s balcony in what appeared to be a suicide attempt.
Police said he survived but sustained broken limbs and deep wounds. He was rushed to hospital under tight security and is currently receiving treatment.
Police officers who responded to the distress call found Rosemary lying in a pool of blood in the kitchen.
Her body was taken to Thika General Kago Mortuary for preservation as investigations continue. The injured house help was also hospitalized.
Detectives are waiting for the suspect to recover so he can give a statement and explain what led to the violence.
The motive of the attack remains unclear, though authorities suspect domestic disagreements may have played a role.
Speaking on the case, Kiambu police officers expressed concern over the growing number of domestic-related murders in the region.
They urged couples and families to find peaceful ways of solving disputes instead of resorting to violence.
“This is a very sad case. We encourage families to seek counseling and use dialogue whenever issues arise. Violence only leaves behind pain and loss,” one officer noted.
The investigation is still ongoing, and police say more details will be released once the suspect records his statement.
