The family of the late Mayienga FM presenter Festus Amimo continues to mourn as new details emerge about his final days. Amimo collapsed and died on December 7, leaving his wife, children, and extended family shocked and devastated.

Neighbours, friends, and ODM leaders visited the family home in Awasi to offer their condolences. Amimo, who was expecting his fourth child with his wife, was remembered as a devoted family man who deeply loved his community.

What His Mother Revealed

In a viral video shared online, Amimo’s mother recalled a conversation she had with her son shortly after the death of Raila Odinga.

She said Amimo was deeply affected by Raila’s passing, and his reaction left many neighbours wondering why he mourned so intensely.

“When Raila died, people told me that my son cried loudly and many came to his home. They said, ‘Why is he mourning like that?’ I also cried for Raila,” she said.

She then revealed that Amimo had made a surprising statement about death during that period.

“I heard him say there would be another prominent man who would follow Baba. I am not lying. He said another man would go after Raila. He is the one who followed Baba,” she emotionally shared.

The grieving mother thanked everyone who had supported the family, including religious leaders preparing for her son’s memorial. She asked for continued prayers, saying she draws strength from those around her.

Memories From His Neighbour

A neighbour who knew Amimo well also shared her memories. She described him as a calm and loving husband who enjoyed taking evening walks with his wife. She admired how close the couple was and said their bond inspired many who lived nearby.

She also described Amimo’s household as a prayerful home, mentioning a religious statue placed at the entrance as a symbol of their faith.

The neighbour mourned him as a kind and generous man whose death robbed the community of a warm and caring soul.

Social media users who watched the emotional video sent messages of strength to the family. Many praised Amimo’s mother for her courage, while others described the pain in her voice as heartbreaking.

Messages of comfort continued to pour in, with Kenyans praying for peace for his wife, children, and extended family as they prepare to lay the journalist to rest.
