Former nominated senator Millicent Omanga has ignited fresh political debate after announcing her exit from President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA), a move that comes at a time of rising political tension and shifting alliances across the country.

In a statement shared on Monday, February 16, Omanga confirmed she had parted ways with UDA, thanking the party for the opportunity it gave her but hinting that her political journey was taking a new direction.

Her decision comes just days after she openly praised the ongoing ODM “Linda Mwanchi” tour that has been traversing different parts of the country, including the recent stop in Kitengela.

Omanga’s public endorsement of the opposition-led tour caught many by surprise, especially given her long-standing association with UDA and her vocal support for President Ruto during the 2022 General Election.

Her now-viral phrase, “Revolution si tafadhali,” has since dominated political conversations online, with supporters interpreting it as a signal that she may be warming up to the opposition.

The former senator had earlier declared interest in vying for an elective seat in Nairobi in 2027, though she has remained non-committal about the political party she intends to use. With Nairobi politics already heating up, her next move is likely to shape the contest in the capital.

Her exit from UDA also comes against the backdrop of internal wrangles within several major parties, including ODM, where divisions over leadership positions have been making headlines in recent days.

Analysts say Omanga’s shift could be part of a broader political realignment as leaders begin positioning themselves ahead of the next election cycle.

While Omanga has not formally joined any new party, her latest remarks and actions suggest she is keen to rebrand her political image and appeal to a wider base. For now, her next step remains the subject of intense public speculation.
