John Methu, a close ally of Rigathi Gachagua, has sharply criticised President William Ruto, saying the opposition’s main agenda is to remove him from power.
Speaking on February 25, 2026, Methu said he had seen Ruto complain that his critics are only focused on pushing him out of office, adding that for the first time, the President is right about that claim. He argued that nothing meaningful can work in Kenya while Ruto remains in power.
Methu’s remarks reflect the growing political tension between Ruto’s camp and leaders aligned to the former Deputy President.
The senator has consistently defended Gachagua and accused the current administration of sidelining leaders who question its policies.
His statement is likely to intensify political debate, especially as the country edges closer to heightened realignments and early succession politics ahead of the next general election cycle.
