The suspect, identified as Festus Omwamba, was arrested in Moyale, a town near the Kenya-Ethiopia border.

According to police, he had just arrived in the country from Russia and was allegedly trying to leave the area when officers tracked him down.

Police spokesperson Michael Muchiri confirmed the arrest and said the suspect was taken to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations headquarters in Nairobi for questioning.

Detectives believe he may have been part of a network targeting Kenyan youths with promises of well-paying jobs abroad.

Investigators say some of the young people who accepted the offers later found themselves involved in military activities linked to Russia.

Authorities are now trying to establish how many Kenyans may have been recruited and whether the suspect acted alone or worked with others.

The arrest has raised fresh concern about the safety of young Kenyans seeking jobs outside the country.

With unemployment still a major challenge, many youths are eager to travel abroad in search of better opportunities.

Police say this makes them vulnerable to agents who may not be honest about the nature of the jobs being offered.

Security officials are also looking into possible violations of laws related to illegal recruitment, human trafficking, and national security. They have warned that recruiting citizens to fight in foreign wars without proper approval is a serious offense.

Sources familiar with the case say detectives are reviewing travel records and communication data to understand how the recruitment process worked.

They are also urging anyone who may have been approached with similar offers to report to the authorities.

Police have advised Kenyans to verify all overseas job opportunities through official government channels before making payments or travel plans.

They stressed that any genuine recruitment process should be transparent and approved by relevant state agencies.
